West Elk Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan is a nonprofit martial arts school with classes in Crested Butte and Gunnison for adults and children. The school also conducts classes through the character education curriculum in the Gunnison High School, and it holds special clinics and seminars throughout the year.  The school is fully accredited by the World Moo Duk Kwan.

Soo Bahk Do is a Korean classical martial art whose history dates back many centuries. Its purpose is to develop every aspect of the self in order to create a mature person who totally integrates his or her intellect, body, emotions, and spirit.

The school began in 1993.  It became a nonprofit corporation in 2003 as a way to better serve our community. It has been granted federal tax-exempt status as a 501 (c)(3) organization.  Donations are tax deductible.

Andy Tyzzer, executive director of West Elk Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, holds the rank of 4th Dan and is designated as Sa Bom or Master Level Instructor by the Korean Soo Bahk Do Association, Moo Duk Kwan.

Classes are conducted five days a week and visitors are welcome.
